An Athlete With Brachial Plexus

So how did brachial plexus affect my life specifically as an athlete? To be completely honest, today very few people ever realize I have an issue with my right arm. Occasionally a coach or friend will ask about it, but for the most part, people really only noticed when I was younger. Like when I would run it would hang down and not move, and in most sports, I essentially played one-handed. What helped me grow out of these habits was physical therapy and other small things I had to do. I did physical therapy for about 5 years I’d say, and it helped me stretch out, and work out my arm, but more importantly it gave me several stretches that have become second nature for me today. Another thing I pushed myself to do was to start using my right arm in everything. Like brushing my teeth, buttoning my shirt, opening the fridge, and other little things. And today I'm incredibly proud of myself for doing this because in the long run, it made me so much stronger. If I hadn’t gone out of my comfort zone I for sure wouldn’t be the athlete I am today. So what all of this means is that if you're a kid with brachial plexus and struggling for motivation, I hope my story is inspiring, and I hope you too push yourself because it will definitely pay off.
